Aline was born in Montgomery Center, Vermont and later moved with her parents to Coventry. She left home when she was a teanager and went to live with her aunt in Massachusetts.

Aline married Baptiste Carter and they had a baby girl named Florence. The marriage didn't work out so she brought the baby home to Coventry for her parents to raise.

She later married a Mr. Salls. They had a son named Winston. She claimed her husband had died and once again, brought her child back to her parents in Coventry. Harvey, Aline's brother, and his wife, Viola, later took Winston to live on their farm in Sutton, Vermont.

Aline lived in New York for several years with Florence. The two seemed to live a life of mystery and intrigue. They would often say their "lives were in danger."
