             Mr. Marcus

Florence was raised by her grandparents, Samuel & Betsy Rossier in Coventry, Vermont after her mother's first marriage ended. After finishing high school, Florence went to Canandaigua, New York were she lived with Henry and Catherine Rossier and attended Nursing School. She worked at the Thompson Memorial Hospital in Canandaigua during her training and after graduation in 1924. Later, she went to work in Brooklyn, New York.

Florence lived in New York for several years and much of the time, Aline stayed with her. The two seemed to live a life of mystery and intrigue. They would often say their "lives were in danger."

Florence married a man name Salmon and they had a son named Keith. This marriage was short-lived. She later married a man named Marcus. This marriage didn't work out either. Florence seemed to move a lot, changing jobs, living in several different areas, and sometimes, even changing her name. She was a hard worker and liked nursing, but it was obvious she had some problems. It is believed she spent some time institutionalized. She was last seen by relatives in the late 1960's at Canandaigua, New York. During this time, there appeared a story in the local paper of an unidentified woman's body that had been recovered from Canandaigua Lake. One cannot help but wonder. Was this the way Florence's life ended? she was never seen or heard from again.

Florence's son, Keith, had some talent as an amateur artist. He was in the Merchant Marines for a time. In 1946, he was assigned to the ship: "Selma Victory." Due to mental problems, he left the Merchant Marines and his whereabouts was unknown for many years. His mother spent a lot of time and money trying to locate him. The last relative to see Keith was Leonard Rossier in the 1970's. At that time, Keith had been working on a farm at a mental institution in up-state New York. He has never been heard from since.
