Marion Louise Samson graduated from the University of Vermont in 1931 and taught in West Danville, Vermont for three years. On June 21, 1934, in Newport, Vermont, she married Robert Davis Taylor, a 1931 graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts. They lived in Spencer, Massachusetts where Robert worked on the family farm and had a dairy equipment and refrigeration business. Three children were born: Laurence Samson on July 11, 1935; Elizabeth Jane on August 5, 1936; and Robert Davis Taylor, Jr. on December 21, 1943.

Robert "Bob" and Marion moved to Sauquoit, New York in 1982 to be near the Cassville farm of their son, Laurence, where Bob continued to work through the fall of 1994. Bob also enjoyed his garden and orchard in Sauquoit. Marion happily preserved the harvest--canning and freezing fruit and vegetables, making jellies, pickles, applesauce, grape juice, and apple and pumpkin pies.

Among Marion and Robert's greatest pleasures was being able to visit together with everyone in the family. They celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary on June 21, 1994. After a brief illness Robert died in Sauquoit, New York on April 22, 1995 at the age of 85.
