Esther lived her younger years in Eden, Vermont. She married Archie Smith who was originally from York Village, Maine. They moved to Bristol, Connecticut where they lived the first few years of their marriage. They had two daughters and a son: Elnora, Carolyn, and Richard. They moved to Michigan in the late 1940's and had a second son, Bruce. Archie was in the building trade most of his life. In 1960, they moved to California where Archie was employed. In 1975, Archie was transferred to Anchorage, Alaska where they lived until the Spring of 1984. They then returned to Michigan after Archie retired.
