Elsie was educated in the Fitchburg Public Schools and graduated from Fitchburg State Normal School where she became a teacher. She taught school for 25 years.

Elsie married Wilfrid Brodeur on June 27, 1946. The ceremony was performed by her two brothers, Arnold and Donald. Wilfrid was the business administrator at Lowell Technological Institute for 25 years. Later, he was an accountant for the local YMCA and YWCA. He also was a Lay Pastor at the Ennel Street French Baptist Church for 18 years.

Elsie died on September 2, 1980 in Lowell, Massachusetts where she and Wilfrid are both buried. They never had any children.
