Roland served in the Army during World War II. During his tour of duty he was able to visit Switzerland and the Rossier home farm. He visited several other Rossiers in the area.

Roland married Olga Chetyrbok, a German girl, and they made their home near Concord, New Hampshire. Two children were born to them: Suzette and Robert. Olga died from a brain tumor when she was still a young woman.

In 1968, Roland married Sandy Stevens who also had a son and daughter: Mike and Bonnie. This made their family complete with two sons and two daughters.

Roland worked for a saw mill company called Forest-All for many years. He later suffered a serious injury to his hand. He and Sandy moved to Florida. Roland died in 1998.
