Ernest was the youngest child of John and Celina. When he was 20 years old, he went to Worcester to work in a factory. There, he married a young girl, but the marriage did not last. He then went to work in Ohio.

Ernest was killed in 1910 when a smelting iron furnace exploded at the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company.

Buried: Providence, Rhode Island.
